The Gunchu district in Iyo City, Ehime Prefecture, is a port town that developed during the Edo period, about 20 minutes by train from Matsuyama. Due to the high degree of autonomy allowed, many buildings lined up along Ozu Kaido Highway, which runs north-south through the center of the city, and prospered a lot. This time, I would like to enjoy walking around the city while feeling that this old port town is still searching for new development paths over time.
愛媛県伊予市にある郡中地区は、松山から電車で約２０分程度のところにある、江戸時代に発展した港町です。高度な自治を許容されたこともあって、街の中心を南北に貫く大洲街道沿いには多くの建築物が軒を連ね、多いに繁栄しました。今回は、この古い港町が時代を経て今なお新たな発展の道を模索する姿を感じつつ、街歩きを楽しみたいと思います。
